黑金刚石是一种发现在冲积矿床的天然多晶金刚石，它的自然颜色是黑色或暗灰色，比其它钻石有更多孔隙，加工后的成品黑钻石已经成为上流社会最流行的装饰品之一。相对于宝石学意义更重的黑钻，黑金刚石一般特指自然产出的黑色金刚石原石。

黑金刚石它是由金刚石，石墨和无定形碳组成的多晶金刚石的不纯形式，通常是细粒金刚石的多孔状集合体。通过铅同位素分析，黑金刚石被认为是大约30亿年前碳结晶的产物。同位素研究已经揭示了进一步的黑金刚石成因线索。碳同位素值非常低（相对于典型的金刚石，碳-13与碳-12相比很少）。
